Important update: Windmill Repairs to Begin 3rd November 2025
Due to the nature and complexity of the works there will be no public access to the windmill building during this period. However, the interactive science centre and award-winning garden will remain open for general visits Wednesday to Sunday 10am-4pm. Entry is free. We’re still available for school visits, parties etc and will operate a partial programme of public events.
Currently there is no access to the windmill. However, when repairs are complete you can see the amazing inner workings of the windmill over four floors, including the grain cleaner and grindstones and learn about how our miller uses the windmill to turn grain into our award winning organic flour. Climb to the top of the mill tower and take in the views far over Nottingham.
For schools we provide engaging and memorable curriculum based, facilitated sessions.
A Journey Through Time
The History of Green's Windmill
Originally built in the early 19th century, Green’s Windmill has is a notable landmark in Nottingham. After falling into disrepair, it was meticulously restored in the 1980s to its former glory and now operates as both a working windmill and a museum dedicated to the science of milling and the life of its original owner, scientist George Green. Today, visitors can explore the mill, learn about traditional milling techniques, and even purchase flour milled on-site.
