Green's Windmill Trust

Green’s Windmill Trust started over 13 years ago as a small group of people who wished to help preserve the milling heritage of the windmill, promote George Green’s reputation as one of the greatest scientists of his age and further the educational and public activities of the Science Centre.

In 2012 we became a registered charity and began taking over day-to-day operations at the Mill and Science Centre from Nottingham City Council.

The Trust is now a charitable company limited by guarantee and registered with the Charity Commission: charity no.1163116

A Journey Through Time

The History of Green's Windmill

Originally built in the early 19th century, Green’s Windmill has is a notable landmark in Nottingham. After falling into disrepair, it was meticulously restored in the 1980s to its former glory and now operates as both a working windmill and a museum dedicated to the science of milling and the life of its original owner, scientist George Green. Today, visitors can explore the mill, learn about traditional milling techniques, and even purchase flour milled on-site.
